EU Finalize Corporate Sustainability Reporting Standards for Companies
July 7, 2026|ESG Research Foundation

The European Commission has officially adopted the finalized European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), introducing updated reporting requirements for companies covered under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The revised framework aims to simplify sustainability disclosures while maintaining transparency and consistency across the EU.
The new standards significantly reduce mandatory reporting data points and clarify that asset managers do not need to disclose sustainability information for investments managed on behalf of clients. The changes are expected to ease compliance costs, align reporting more closely with global standards, and reduce administrative burdens for businesses.
