The European Commission has approved a €26 billion Italian support scheme aimed at accelerating the country’s transition to clean energy. The initiative is expected to stimulate significant investments in renewable power projects, helping Italy strengthen its energy security while advancing its climate commitments.
Under the program, Italy plans to add approximately 37.15 GW of new renewable energy capacity through competitive auctions and financial incentives. The large-scale deployment of solar, wind, and other clean energy technologies is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support economic growth, and contribute to the European Union’s broader decarbonization objectives.
